Hawaii Companies Donate Solar Lights to Residents of One Village in the Philippinesa
A Christmas Story
It was a very Merry Christmas 2022 for some families living in the remote village of Barangay Union, Tinambac, Camarines Sur in the Philippines.
Living without electricity, these families relied on gas lamps to carry out their night time activities, including cooking, eating, cleaning up, and studying for students.
To help their situation, sixteen families were chosen to receive a special gift: solar lights for their homes. This donation not only brightened up their holiday season, but it also provided a sustainable source of light to improve their daily lives.
On a bright and sunny day in the village plaza, the air was buzzing with energy and enthusiasm as children from all around the village had gathered together to take part in various games and activities to win some toys and candies as prizes.
As the day progressed, many parents had also joined the event and were seen cheering their children on from the sidelines. They were delighted to see their children having a great time, and their own excitement was infectious, adding to the already high spirits of the event.
The children who had participated but not won were also given consolation prizes, ensuring that no child left the event empty-handed.
Overall, the event was a great success, bringing the community together and spreading joy throughout the village. It had been a fun-filled day that the children would surely remember for a long time to come.
And for the 16 families who received the solar lights, that day meant an end to the inconvenience of living without proper lighting in the night, and a step towards a brighter future.
